This is a simple guide for Mac users who want to start getting their DVD movie library ready for their Android phone/tablet.

Let's face it: the Android OS based device doesn't support playing DVDs. Thus, in order to watch DVD movies on your Android phone/tablet, you need to convert those discs to an Android-friendly format (e.g. MP4). To get the work done, you just need to get some help from a mac-compatible third-party software.

When it comes to getting the raw content of a DVD disc from Mac onto your Android, Pavtube DVD Ripper for Mac is about as good as it gets. True to it name, the utility copies DVD to your Mac and converts them to playable videos for any Android tablet/phone. That's true of any number of rippers (including some freeware ones, as I'm sure a few users will take joy in pointing out), but Pavtube is among the first developers to keep adding support for the lastest Android devices.

PS. If you're using a Windows PC, please refer to the post "best three DVD Ripping Programs for Android" to make your final decision.

It has outputs for Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Tab 2, Nook HD (HD+), Asus Transformer Prime/Infinity TF700, HTC One X, Acer tablets, Google Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Archos, HTC, Vizo Tablet etc. Besides, it also lets you rip and convert DVDs to virtually any video or audio format like AVI, WMV, MOV, FLV, MKV, ASF, etc. What's more, some video editing features like trimming, cropping, rotating, adjusting video effects, etc. are provided to customize your videos.

The software works like most other DVD rippers I've used. Below is how.

1. Download and install the DVD Ripper to your Mac.

(Download here if you using Mac 10.5 or 10.6)

2. Launch the program and click "Load DVD" button to add your DVD movie files. ISO and IFO files are also supported.

If you need to rip DVD with wanted subtitles and audio track, you can click the drop down menu after "Subtitles" and "Audio" to select your desired tracks.

3. Click "Format" and select an output profile for your Android device. There are optimized presets for Samsung Galaxy, Amazon Kindle, Google Nexus, Asus Transformer, Acer, Archos and more. Basically the Common Video >> H.264 Video (*.mp4) is an universal format for Android tablets and smartphones.

Optimize the settings The default settings may not satisfy you, and you can click the settings button to change the settings by yourself. Keep in mind that the file size and conversion quality is based more on bitrate than resolution (bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss, and vice versa)

4. If you're happy with the output videos, click the "Convert" button to begin encoding your movie.

Not an Android user? Converter also supports "common" video formats like MOV, M4V, MP4 and has presets for all the models of iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Apple TV, so you should be able to create files compatible with your iOS basd devices. Overall, If you want to convert DVD movies on Mac for playback on your Android OS, iOS and Windows RT/8 based device, Pavtube DVD Ripper for Mac is undoubtedly the best choice.
