Wife is playing Chimera vids on Youtube. We're going to Anthrax/Testament/Death Angel tonight, and Chimara is a warm-up, and I'd never heard of them, so I'm deciding whether it's worth showing up early...so far, a bit too nu-metal for me.

MUCH better than expected! We blew the start again (twice this week, we missed 3-4 songs on Lindsey Buckingham's show wednesday, too) and missed ALL of Chimera (I'm not crying) but also a few Death Angel songs...I was pissed about that. Still, managed to get Thrown to the Wolves recorded, easily my fav tune by them, awesome live.
Testament kicked major booty..came out in front of home crowd and announced that as far as they were concerned, the tour might as well be over, as it couldn't get any better than San Francisco. They were right..it was a real homecoming feeling, and the crowd was definitely in a state of admiration and awe, and responded with tons of moshing and surfing, splashes of violence giving away to brotherly hugs, and even a few girls braving the surf over the wall (the security dudes LOVE the girls flying at them!).
Anthrax was on fire. Joey seemed about 90% in voice, had tons of energy, as did ALL the band. Indeed, the crowd was a bit weary from the 6pm start w/ Chimera, so there was a lull in energy feeding back to the band towards the end, but Scotty gave us a bit of crap about LA doing a better pit job than us, so we cranked it up for the finale, and brought the house down. We were on lower loge (too old to mosh) and the whole balcony level was shaking up and down like that earthquake earlier in the week..we're used to shaking 'round here! Vids will be up in a day or two.
