Fascinating. New member instructions tell me to post a thread introducing myself. There is a link to do so. It takes one to a closed thread which was last posted in 2012. Hmm.
Anyway, I started using a desktop computer, an IBM XT, in July 1982. It debuted in March of that year. It had a whopping 640k memory and two 10-mb hard discs. Screen color was a choice on of green-on-black or green-on-black. Enough tripping down memory lane.
My main gripe with Amazon's tablets is that they just had to use their own version of Android for their OS. Yes, there are ways around it, but it can be annoying. However, the Fire tablet is very good for reading and for listening to audiobooks, which are my main uses.
Thanks for reading.
Jeanne (Yes, I like old movies.)
Yes and no, it's not Their version of android, it's just a version of android, the main issue is that amozan and Google are at war with each other and won't make their devices / services, easily compatable. and thats really the only downside to fire use. The upside is it has much the same functionality as android devices that cost three times more. You don't need to install Google play to be able to install and use 90% of the available app,
I've seen lots o people question it's functionality and say it's only good for books, and I don't recognize that issue, mine is good for every thing , films music tv internet AND books, however if your main use is finding the nearest MacDonald s , then it can be a short fall installing Google only apps rd
If you think that's awkward , try owning a Windows phone
