    New to site

    Hello all,

I am new and need some assistance.

My price range is 200$ and was debating between the nook color and the fire.

Do you all have issues with not having expandable storage?

Does your kindle allow you to watch movies of your own or does it have to be from Amazon prime?

    What about.music?

    Thanks

welcome to the forum. Glad you joined us. I have no issues with the memory issue.

You can use DVD Catalyst, one of our SV, to get your dvds concerted to watch on the kindle fire.

You don't need to have Amazon Prime to use the Kindle Fire, but it does get you lots of extra stuff if you have it.
    Tablets: Kindle Fire
Portable Media Players: Samsung Galaxy S2, Onda VX590T, Cowon J3
Settop Media Players: WD TV Live Streamer, Xtreamer SideWinder3, Crystal Acoustics MediaMatchBox
    Software: DVD Catalyst, MakeMKV

    Youtube works in the browser.

It comes with an email client that works with gMail, or you can just use the browser if you want.

Music you can just copy to the internal memory.

For movies I recommend DVD Catalyst, he has a sub-forum here where you can ask more questions.

You can look at the Amazon App Store if you want to see what software is available for the Fire (for playing music etc..)

I got the rooCASE (here on Amazon) but there were hardly any cases out when I got it, there are a ton more now. I really like it, but you might wanna shop around more.

    Wow good find thanks
Probably a stupid question is there a dock for the kindle?
Or if I wanted a tablet with a doc better off getting a different model tablet? Any good options there?

    No dock that I've seen.

Most Android devices come with bluetooth these days (the Fire does not), and there's a huge range of bluetooth speakers out there. I have the Creative ZiiSound D3x and it works perfectly with all my PC's and phone and media players. At the risk of sounding snobbish, docks are kind of old fashioned...

If you just want a stand on the other hand, then the Arkon Portable Fold-Up Stand works very nicely and is only $13.06 right now.
