Finding out if the Kindlefire can be a multimedia public spot

Basically all I need is a small tactile always-on screen and an always-on internet connection, 24h/day

I also need the table to switch on, connect to the wi-fi network and load a specific web page on its own if there was a powercut

    So here I am...

ALOHA & welcome. In all honesty, if its connectivity u wanted 24-7, u probably would've been better off getting a tablet like the Xoom, Galaxy Tab or iPad. Those tablets can come with 3g/4g capability at any time. WiFi u need another hot spot to connect. Unless u have a phone that is rooted/jail broken u can tether but battery will eat that baby up.
I think in time Amazon may come out with a network on its own...maybe

There may be Kiosk apps out there. Essentially an app that allows you to administer a public computer...or device...and limit what the people who have access to it can do. In fact this is essentially how tablet displays are set up at box stores. There must be an app out there that can do this.

Thank you for bringing my attention to the Xoom. Problem is, it is twice the price, and 3G asks for monthly subscription.

I will definitely look for a kiosk application. Thanks for the tip.
