    Remove Special Offers

I am new to this forum and to Kindle Fires. I have a KF HD 8.9 running 8.5.1_5159720. I am not sure which generation this KF is. It is the BOC9 model if that is helpful. It might be a 2nd or 3rd generation. I would like to remove the special offers that appear on the lock screen. Also, I would like to uninstall some of the stock apps. I was reading through some of the other posts. I understand that you freeze or uninstall stock apps. First, I know that you have to ROOT the KF. Obviously, I don't want to brick the device. I do know that you run that risk of bricking the device.

    1. What is the best method to ROOT any Kindle Fires?

    2. Which tool or utility would I use to ROOT the KF?

    3. Which program would I use to freeze or uninstall the stock apps?

    4. Is there a list of stock apps that should not be tampered with or touched?

Any suggestion or help is appreciated.

I share this question. And mostly I find it a bit sinister that there have been no replies to this question after seven months?

Old post, but for others !!!!

The main question I have is why? What do you hope to achieve by doing the above ? The term " root" is generally misused, it means to have root admin privileges, that is you can change the source code/ programming of the device. The kindled are root resistant, that's not to say it can't be done, but you really have to know how to write source code to do so, and the fact your asking how to do it, means there's a very good chance that you will brick the device if you try. .one mistake and it's game over

The screen adds are part of the deal, you got the device cheaper because they are there, I understand, though haven't verified that not/ Dr registering the device d will remove them and there are multiple you tube vids that claim to show how to achieve this! Though I really can't see the point, !.
You can also go though the running apps one by one and turned them off, if your obsessive enough. And apps that will kill anything not currently in use, though some, mostly not kindle ones will just restart.

What harm are the kindle apps doing exactly, most don't run unless you launch them others that do are a interval part of the device and are nessersary, you can use a boot utility, to switch of f which apps are launched at start up, including the kindle ones, that way they never get going
    If
There are also apps that hibernate other apps that arnt used much, including though not just the kindle ones.

Best advice is If you have to ask dont mess, if you want to learn be prepared to spend a lot of time messing about to get it working properly again, if indeed you canwwith out a factory reset
