Any text to speech apps that will read magazine and pdfs?

I want to get the Fre HD 7". Is there any apps that do a good job of reading magazines and pdfs out loud? I believe they call it text to speech. Second question, will the Fire Hd continue to receive updates? I know Amazon recently put one out recently. But my concern is that 2-3 years from the os will become unstable or inoperable because of the lack of updates. These are my only two concerns before purchasing the Fire HD. I had the opportunity to spend a great amount of time with one in the store. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm looking for that too. I already have a kindle fire HD and would like to be able to hear my textbooks, or PDF files of certain pages read aloud. Why is this so hard to find? Why can't this thing that reads Amazon's books aloud also read any old text from a file? I'm a little ticked at Amazon's selfish and capitalistic methods...
I know that the old B&W kindles have the capacity to read PDF files out loud, but I can't find an app for the Fire HD
