    Kindle Fire plays 1080p video

Mine just came in, and I already posted a few articles on my website (check the news section)
But, I figured I'd share the first thing I tried after I got it out of the box.

A 1080 video I created a while ago as a test for the Xoom (which can also play it):

    http://www.tools4movies.com/xoom/108...lr1_h1080p.mp4

(visit link using the browser on the Kindle Fire and it will stream)

Unfortunately, movies you add yourself on the Kindle don't show up in the Amazon user interface, so you have to use Apps > Gallery to find your movies.

I use ES File explorere you can browse to your side loaded movies and run them. I've also DL Moboplayer and it plays AVI files great.

I have successfully ripped a couple of movies, copied them to the fire and they play wonderfully. I have also tagged the file with cover art, etc. It shows up in windows when you view the properties of the files "on the Fire" Large Icons show the cover art etc. However, on the fire in the gallery, all I see are two little black boxes with a "play" triangle in the middle. what do I need to do so the artwork shows up. I can't tell which movie is which...

The Android Gallery doesn't care about any of the tags in MP4 files. In order to get album art to show up for your movies, I would suggest to have a look at MovieGallery.

What is the difference between the 'free' version and the paid?

How do I get the paid version on the KF?

The paid version is still in the approval process of Amazon.

The difference between them is that the free version has a limit of only displaying 10 movies (or 5 in sub folders) as a max, and some of the settings are inactive.
