All .mobi files not recognized. Ideas?
I have all of my .mobi files in my books folder. Doing that, a good number of them show up in Docs, and SOME of them show up in books. Some of them don't show up at all. Any ideas on why that may be? I've tried putting them into the docs folder to see if they show up, but they do not. They are all former epub books that were changed to mobi when I got the Fire.
I want all my books, darn it!
Thanks gurus for your technical expertise!

Have you converted these .mobi files yourself? I discovered a few of my .mobi files showed up on the Docs shelf because of the way I converted them from ePub (in Calibre). I had added an extra title page. I re-converted from the original, without any modifications, and the resulting .mobi appeared normally on the bookshelf. I have no idea why this worked, but it did.

A simple question, where can I find these .mobi files anyway? Connecting my Fire to a PC with a micro USB cable?

A few of my .mobi books won't show up on the bookshelf. They will show up on the carousel though.

Again, I think it is the way in which they have been formatted. Do you have Calibre. If so, try converting the fil e from .mobi to .mobi which will sometimes correct a problem.

Simple to you, perhaps, but I am not quite sure what you are asking. There are no .mobi files on the Fire unless you have put them there. And, yes, transfering files can be done with a micro USB/USB cable or wirelessly via your WLAN with an app such as ES File Explorer.

EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention -- after adding your own .mobi books you must power off, then on and the books will appear on your bookshelf. This is the only way I have found to "refresh" or re-index the collection.
