    It wont let me download Opera to my fire. "Non compatible device."

    Bummed because I really need an alternate browser.

    I see you are correct. Others had previously reported this as being installable. Amazon may have changed something.

    I side loaded Firefox. Works good. Was able to Sync and get Bookmarks from Laptop.

    How exactly did you sideload Firefox? I'm really frustrated with Silk...

    you need to be rooted to download either Opera or /firefox

    I downloaded file from Firefox web page. File name mozillafirefoxwebbrowser_8.0.apk. Connected Fire to pc and copied file over to Fire. Used ES File Explorer to install.

    Did not have to root to install firefox

    No you don't. I have Opera installed and I'm not rooted. All you have to do is find a site that you can send Opera to your email, then download it from there. Worked for me.
    There is a post around here with a video on how to do it.

    I have Opera and it seems nice. I don't know if I have the need for Firefox also. But who knows. Anyone know where to get to download?

    Use 4shared.com to install apk that are not in the marketplace or not supported
