This is a discussion on Carousel Icons Blank within the Amazon Kindle Fire Help forums, part of the Amazon Kindle Fire Forum category; same thing here....
Sounds like a wifi signal problem. I have had this happen on and off; but it is not consistant. It does not happen when my wifi signal is strong as I think the data throughput is strong enough to transmit the full picture. When it is weak some of the icons are grey; but change as the signal gets stronger. Don't think its a Kindle hardware problem however. fdalbor
I have solved this. Go to settings, applications, home screen, select show/hide recommendations to hide
Has anyone came up with a reason/solution to this? My fire HD does the same thing. At first it was just a couple of apps here and there(they would come back after a while with me not doing anything.) Yesterday it was ever single app/book/game on my carousel. I tried cleaning my kindle, turning off and back on and nothing helped. I emailed customer service and the reply I got was basically they don't know either. She told me to turn off/on. If that didn't work, then she said I would have to de-register my kindle and then re-register. I still have my two year warranty on my kindle and would like to know if I need to get Amazon to replace or not.
Ours started doing this also and it is very annoying.....kinda takes the joy out of using it.....someone please help
Had same problem....... fixed it this way: Go to drop down settings tab at top, select 'more', then 'applications', then 'installed applications', (filter by: 'all applications'), select 'launcher', and clear the cache. Don't stop the launcher... just clear the cache. Shut down, and reboot. All my icons came back, both in 'apps' and on carousel. Haven't had a problem since.
