2 New Kindle Fires--but they do not match.
Hi,
Tuesday I purchased a Fire, and yesterday I had to go buy the wife one. The first one I bought came out of the box running the newest software 6.3.1 (I think--don't quote me). The 2nd one has 6.2.x on it.
Yesterday while setting them up I noticed a few differences.
The first thing I noticed is that the Pulse application has different menu appearances when adding channels. The older version Fire actually looks better and is easier to find channels. I wasn't overly concerned about this though.
The 2nd and more annoying thing is that while setting up her Facebook on it, I had both devices side by side with the same Facebook page on it. Not only did the older software Fire have crisper clearer text, but the images were nice and clear as well. The newer OS Kindle text seems fuzzy and unclear as well as it actually blows the images up and leaves them unclear. I then navigated to another non-FB web page and it's the same thing. The older version is crisp and clear, whereas the newer version is fuzzy until you zoom in a bit.
I went through menu setting by menu setting--one by one--ensuring that all the settings were duplicate between the devices and they are.
So now at this point my concern is that I'm not sure if this is a function of software or hardware. I'm hesitant to update the older one to the newer OS since it's actually the one that looks better out of the two (as well as the Pulse application issue).
Is there someone here who has updated and can verify? Is there a way to DOWNGRADE the software? Also, is there a way to take a screenshot natively on the Kindle Fire, or am I stuck snapping a picture with my phone. I can post side by side shots to show the exact issues I'm talking about.
Thanks in advance!

I have not noticed any of these problems after upgrading to 6.3.1 but then I don't have a side by side comparison. I have responded to many similar question on other forums regarding downgrading software. That is not the answer
to solve the problem. Report these issues to Amazon so they can determine if it is the software or your specific unit. There are many reasons why you always want to be at the latest OS release.
