I do not know the answer but do you have Flash "off," or "on demand" in the browser settings? Also, check under "Block pop-up windows" to be sure it is not set to "never."

    Ads where? The browser?
And I don't see what the cost has to do with the question.

use Firefox with adblockplus. or root your kf and install one of the adblocking apps like adfree.

I have received no such ads on my fire whatsoever. The OP is vague, if its ads in the browser, that has nothing to do with amazon, just the websites you view. If they are getting popups and/or notifications of ads on their fire, its from one of their apps using an advertising addon. I used "Addons Detector" from the google market, it scans your apps and lets you know which ones may be the cause

Totally incorrect. I think you are confusing the Fire with regular Kindles.

And of course, that's IF you decide to go with the ad supported version... which gives no right to complain imo, you knew what you bought.

Thanks to all of you who gave constructive help. As for the $199 comment, I love my fire and believe that the price was a bargain for what you get. It does eveything that I want it to and it is so much more portable that my IPAD gen 1. It's wonderful for all the traveling we do.

Now back to my ad problem. the ads seem only to come on Words With Friends and started about a week ago. Do you think uninstalling and reinstalling will help?
