Since it's an lcd it doesn't make much difference. The screen has to create whatever color you choose. Screen Brightness will make a much bigger difference than its color

True..the backlight stays lit regardless. With a black background, you can dim lower while still having great readability, plus it's easier on my aging eyes.

It's the backlight that uses the power not the screen. So the answer is to set the backlight as low as you can set it with the brightness control and then pick the screen that you prefer to read. I usually use tan myself. But it is the backlight...not the color of the screen.

I've found that using "Screen Dim" enables me to lower the brightness level while retaining a higher contrast level. Make the screen considerably more readable at a lower brightness setting.

It is the backlighting that sucks up power. I highly recommend installing the app ScreenDim. It offers five customizable presets that are really handy, especially for reading in different lighting conditions.

    Screen Color

How do you change the screen color? The only two items under DISPLAY in settings is Brightness & Screen Timeout.
    Thanks
