I wondered how many units were pre-ordered on the first day and how that stacked up with other tablets.
I would have to believe that once it hits the streets and people start putting it "to the test" and posting actuall reviews it should do well.

How well it does depends on how well it is reviewed. I'll be dinging it if I can't side-load non-amazon apps. I'll be dinging it if I can't customize the Kindle UI at least a little. It's a first generation device and my experience suggests there will be plenty of room for improvement.

I agree in that I don't think it will replace or displace the IPad but I do believe it can be a total success on its own.
I do believe that there should be more options in today's tech world because people want/need different things and the IPad is not it for me whereas the Fire seems to be much closer to what I wanted.
Time will tell if it is for me but I pre-ordered so I'm making my bet.
