Guys, I have a friend who knows computers more than I do. I do have 2 cables. My friend tried to connect the router the way the cd says and it did not work for him either.

He has his own router and he set that up himself. Maybe he has done this for a few more people, but right now I only know of one other person so he knows how to connect a router.

I have a Linksys e1200 router and I looked at the isp site and it says it should work. My friend will come over next weekend to try to set it up again. He says he can, but if he can't I am stuck with a router because it will be past the return day. Thanks for all the input. I hope we can find a way to make wifi work here.

I have connected many routers and all brands...only one I had a problem with was a bad router. Have you tried calling your cable company or Lynsys? If so, and no success,I'd return the router...it could be a bad one. Good luck.

As I said in other posts, if things are cabled correctly and your eMachine can't access the internet then you either have bad cables or a bad router. Since you seem certain that the cables are good, that leaves the router. The question has been asked multiple times but never answered, have you tried calling Linksys tech support? They should be able to help you determine if the router is defective or not.

Here's a link to chat with Linksys Support. Here's their US phone number: 800 326 7114
