Email app (amazon's own) included. Silk web browser (amazon's own) included. Amazon's android app store, but no sign of the Google Market. Personally I'm recommending the Acer A100 for a little more money.

I read somewhere that Amazon stated this morning that it will launch with Android 2.3 instead of 2.1

    That's good news! lol

Decent specs and at that price you can't really go wrong.

    Limited hardware spec.
We are in Technology Media Convergence Period.
Missing camera(s), 3G, bluetooth. If it is sold with existing spec, I would say is very close to DOA.

Price it around $250, with 3G, Bluetooth, camera(s), and you got a killer.
People don't want to buy multiple device, when all can be found on 1 device.

The viewpad 7", I see as a better entry level all around device. carrier unlocked too.
Video conference is here to stay.
Don't want to be tether/wired to device (nearly 1 lb) to listen to music, need the bluetooth.

Perhaps the next gereation of the device will be more feature rich.

Amazon knows exactly what they are doing and have a great track record in marketing. IMHO, the Fire will sell like hotcakes for the same reason there has been phenomenal success with the Kindle. Simple and easy to obtain desired media in a cool device, for a very good value. For those wanting the above -- buy a 7" Thrive, or a 10" tablet.

Agreed, especially with the timing right before the holidays, this will be a really great seller for them

While Bluetooth would be a nice addition, the lack of it doesn't mean this is DOA. I think Amazon will sell them as fast as they can make them.

Supposedly the 10" version will be available before the holiday season. Hopefully it will have some of the missing hardware.

I think the device is fine as it is. Many people only need the features the kindle fire offers.

Having said that, I broke down and cancelled my kindle fire pre order today. I just can't resist to the new ASUS transformer . It will be my frst tablet and I want something that will keep me happy for some time.
