The following statement on Amazon's "Amazon Prime and Kindle Fire" page doesn't offer much hope for a one-month membership extension:

"If you're already a paid or free trial member of Prime when you register your device you'll be able to seamlessly use your benefits without interruption or changes to your membership."

My advice? Cancel your Prime membership before buying the Kindle Fire. That should get you the non-member 30 days free.

Agreed, I got a month free when I first signed up and price is good anyway.

Keep in mind that you can also share prime with up to 4 other people. My son has Prime and he shares it with my wife. If you are receiving Prime from someone else though, you don't qualify for the free movies.

Also, since I purchased the KF with my wife's Prime membership, I am pretty sure it will arrive personalized with her name.
