Screen Brightness: stops getting lower @ 20% mark?

While lowering my screen brightness, the screen's "visual" brightness stops decreasing around the 20% mark. The screen brightness will adjust appropriately from the 20% level through Max... but once the brightness adjustment slider reaches 20% (and lower), the screen brightness hits a "wall" and will not go lower, even though the slider says 6% or 13% etc.

Can someone test this out and tell me if you experience this same phenomenon? Thank you!

This annoyed me, and was one of several reasons I rooted. I missed my fav Brightness Toggle Widget (8 steps of brightness) on my desktop.

edit: uh oh! Even with my handy-dandy toggle, there's still only 3 brightness settings! This will not do!
edit2: okay...the slider appears to give smooth range between light and dark, but the Power Widget and Toggle Widget both only give 3 steps. Very odd. Gonna hafta test more brightness apk's....

Thanks for confirming! I was just curious why my brightness adjusts smoothly from 100% down to 21%, but once the slider reaches 20% or less, the decreasing brightness hits a "wall" and refuses to get any darker. Anyone else want to confirm this happens with their unit? Thanks much.
