    Rooting is just the process of unlocking the Operating System files of your device. The normal user will likely never mess with these files, but if you ever want to install any of the mods that hackers have been working on then you will have to. Its a very easy process if you follow the guide I linked to above your post. Also I wrote a thread about the benefits in the development section called 'to root or not to root" which should be able to answer all of your questions or concerns hopefully.

    I have never owned a android device and I rooted it within 30min super easy even installing the android market place I followed the tutorials from this site kindlefirewire.com
