I've noticed that my gen. 2 Kindle fire runs at 1200MHz almost all the time. The only time the cpu steppes down is when I am watching a video. Then it steps down to a low of 300MHz. I wonder why Amazon did this. The gen 2 Fire would have a much longer lasting battery if the processor stepped down while reading or while surfing the net.
Does anyone know how to throttle down the processor when 1200MHz is not needed? I don't know why it runs so fast for stuff like reading a book or reading a web page.
