    Be sure to update

I've got it on good authority that the Fire ships with an outdated O.S. Once they started production they had to install the O.S. as it currently stood. There has been a lot of development on the device since then and it is recommended that you perform an update as soon as it arrives.

That's not too uncommon these days.

Thanks for the heads up. Between your tip and something I read elsewhere in the past couple of days, I have learned something. This site is helpful already!

Dagnabit! I am probably going to have to let the Fire get it's initial charge up too. I won't be able to do it...I am telling everyone right now! I am getting antsy LOL.

The last 5 devices I've bought have had updates waiting when first connected to Wi-Fi. Seems like the outcome of how important it is to be first-to-market. Probably even more of a positive hit than a negative, as we all seem to enjoy updates.
