Talking Making Kindle Fire Browser Kid Safe

I Have a loved one for whom i purchased a kindle fire. He is an adult and can be free to use the adult profile, HOWEVER he absolutely needs to have a kid-safe web browsing experience (i.e. no access to pornography or other mature content ) for reasons i wont go into here. At first i was highly frustrated with this and then i discovered the answer! It was so simple i don't know why i didn't just do it before! i don't need help which is why i didn't post this in the "help" forum but if you have a Kindle fire 7 and want to allow your child internet access but not total free reign this may work for for you. (note this is just for the browser.) here are the steps. enjoy!

First go into the amazon app store and download the "KidzSearch" app. ( this is an excellent kid-safe browser with lots of educational content, homework help, games and access to child friendly sites and safe sites (I.e. they can go to ESPN to view the sports scores, etc. but porn and other violent/mature content is blocked)

Next Enable parental controls and set a password

    Next Block the silk browser.

Next block/ unblock anything else you want (some things are blocked by default so if you want your child to have access to them unblock them)

Next Go back to your profile while leaving parental controls on.

Ta da! you will no longer see the silk web browser but you'll be able to use the kids safe search browser
This also solved another issue for me as i wanted my loved one to have access to movies i downloaded for him on an SD card (which won't show on a Kids profile).

Well maybe, as a rule the only way you can restrict access to adult sites is to have a definitive list of the sites that can be visited, if they have access to the world wide web, but a filter on the search engine to restrict access to adult sites then it can easily be bypassed, some times as easily as searching for another search engine and then using that to access what ever they want, or using a mirror site to get there or installing a VPN, there are lots and lots of children access adult sites ,who 's parents, though lack of understanding of how the world wide web works, think is impossible due to the parental controls they have installed that a reasonably bright 12 year old will bypass in seconds
