Should I go for a Second hand kindle fire?

I'm getting a second hand kindle fire, 5 months used, for half the price. Should I go for it? I'm planning to root it to ICS. I've seen the photos and there's no physical damage to the device, but the problem is that I live in India, so firstly, I HAVE to root it to ICS, because I cant download apps, etc. on the device, and secondly, I dont think theres any facility for repair of the device in India in case theres a problem, so it'll be a huge botheration contacting the original owner etc. for replacement under warranty and incase its after warranty period, then I'm left with no choice. So the basic question is, can I trust the build of the Amazon Fire to that extent that I buy a second hand device and expect it to work for a few years without any problem, that too on ICS? Or should I pay more and get a new tab which has repair facilities in India?

Me personally, I'd get a refurb from Amazon that comes with full warranty but is still cheaper than a new one.

I'm not going for amazon products, coz the shipping costs add up to quite a lot, and I'm not too sure about customs and other issues, so usually stay away from international shipping
