We should all contact support. It's clearly an issue.
Here, too. I have to close many tabs only for them to reopen each time I open the browser. Clearing the history does nothing. A fix for this would be nice!
This thread is ongoing in another sub-forum: Browser loads so many tabs
Here is my recent post:
This was not introduced with the latest update. This anomaly was first reported last November (at launch time) by some people on the Amazon discussion forums. I have not experienced this problem, but clearing history will do nothing. Try clearing the cache first in Settings => Applications, then a Force Close. If that doesn't work, one can then try the standard "Clear Data" which will delete automated logins/passwords, etc. This problem sounds more like isolated instances of browser data not clearing out properly as this has been happening since the Fire first launched and it doesn't occur with everyone.
It isn't a new problem. It's been around for a bit and it's been found to be a problem with the silk browser.
To clear it, at least for now:
Hit the cog wheel.
Then More
Applications
Find the icon that says browser and looks like the Amazon logo.
Open that and clear the cache(s).
That should clear the problem.
Actually you have to hit "clear data". This will remove your bookmarks and reset your browser settings, bit at least it temporarily fixes the issue. After doing this "fix", Ive gone between two days and three weeks before the unwanted tabs issue finally reappeared. The guy above me is mostly correct though.,
Have been following this thread as I have the same problem. I have tried all the suggestions and look forward to finding a permanent solution to this problem soon! Yes, Kindle Support should take this problem seriously!
Same problem here... has been fine since christmas. About a week ago started getting multiple tabs for things i have never opened. cleared cache and history and they just keep coming back on restart. texted kindle support and didnt get any help other then i should call them.
