    Is A Standard Build Possible?

    Hi Everyone,

I work at an educational institute and we use many Kindle Fires as student devices. I wanted to find out if anyone knows if its possible to have a standard build that we can flash onto the devices? I want to be able to switch off certain apps, automatic updates etc.

    Any pointers would be welcome.

    Thanks
    /Mark

Quite probably is the answer, people were doing all sorts of things with the early ones, and sending them back to Amazon as faulty when they inevitably bricked them, Amazon responded by making gai ning root admin privileges extremely difficult to achieve. It should be possible to just install a non Amazon version of android on them, if you under stand coding . You need to try one of the hard core coding sites to see if anyone knows how to do this reliably, otherwise it's likely to cost exactly the same amount as buying new tablets.

Perhaps a more pertinent question is what you are hoping to achieve by doing this, ?. I can't see that you will end up with devices that work better
