The Kindle Fire is Doing Better Than You Even Realize
Ok so we've seen the headlines for the past couple of months: Kindle Fire is the bestselling non-Apple tablet....but still iPad is way ahead of everyone. But that only tells half the tale. Other not-so-prominent headlines show why the Fire is a big success, not just for being iPad's nearest competitor, but because it brings in MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.
FIRST EVIDENCE: Jumptap, a mobile ad provider, reports that a full one third of its tablet traffic uses the Fire to surf around....to read ads....and presumably to buy stuff. There are how many tablets out there? A few dozen? Yet if Jumptap is indicative of tablet traffic, and especially the commerce portion of tablet traffic, ONE THIRD of that traffic comes from the Fire. Which spells dollars...and higher ad prices...and so on. Here's the link:

SECOND EVIDENCE: According to another report, app developers make more money from their Amazon App Store apps than they do from the Android Market ("Google Play"). And the device that pushes most of the traffic to that store these days is, of course, the Fire. Again, money, money, money for developers means a nice cut for Amazon. Here's that link:

Is it any wonder that both Apple and Google have the Fire in their sights now?

As a developer I really doubt that. I get more download from slideme.org and much, much, much more from Google Play than from Amazon AppStore. Also most of my games are free. You can check them out here: Amazon.com: Magory: Apps for Android - there was a huge jump in downloads on Christmas, when Kindle Fire was first released, but since then it's like before...
Still, I quite like Kindle Fire as a device but Google Play seems to have more "movement" going on.
