The write up doesn't make sense. It isn't "one click", and the writer is relying on readers to be techno-savvy as he is. He writes that you need to have ABD on your PC already...ok...what's ABD and where do I get it? Why would I want it on my PC, or does he mean Fire? In the original write up it says to run the SuperUser app on my PC. Once again, is he talking about my actual personal computer or is he meaning my Fire? I don't believe a PC can run an Android app.
First need to do what this link is telling you but finish it at Step 8: How to Root Your Kindle Fire | PCWorld ,then you try link I posted. About the Superuser app, of course you need to install it in your KF. Otherwise you can ask me anything you want.
First you post: Then you posted:
The problem with the write up you posted in the original post is not clear about "ABD". You posted what needs to be done in a different write up, that's the problem with the 1st write up...it should have included this. I'm not putting this on you, but rather the person that did this "write up"

That's because then "How to root your KF" it's an old info, the new link is about the new update 6.2.1 that break the older way to do it. That's all.
Once again this isn't on you...if someone is going to do a write he should not assume anything. What may be common knowledge for him, may not be common knowledge to his readers. What would have been good would have been for him to link to the original rooting article to explain the ABD step.
ABD????
you mean ADB that writeup is a mess! don't do it

I cannot get this to work! I thing I screwed the adb commands up. This is the first time I've had trouble rooting a device. If I do a factory reset would that correct my commands? Then I could start the process over again?
Adb is part of the adroid sdk downloaded from android dev site. Hope that helps somewhat
