a substitute for the missing physical volume control

One of the frequent complaints about the Kindle Fire is the lack of a physical volume control. In my travels on other forums, I came across this app:
    Volume control by RubberBigPepper

It's a transparent volume slider that is small, unobtrusive, and very customizable that 'floats' along the edge of the screen. No longer do you have to stop a Youtube video just to change the volume.

Unfortunately, it's not available in the Amazon App Store. Here's a link for it, from the 1mobile market:
Download Volume control for Android ,Volume control 1.1 for Android download

This is, to me, actually preferable to having a physical, mechanical volume control. I'm glad they kept the number of physical controls low - fewer mechanical parts to break or wear out, and fewer points of entry for moisture and dust.

PS: I always found the complaint - "no physical volume control" - kind of funny, because one of the other frequent complaints about the Fire is "too easy to hit the Power button". I'm sure that, had Amazon given the Fire a physical volume control, the complaint would have been "too easy to inadvertently change the volume setting".

No, but it's way over on the edge, in the margin, out of the way. If that still bothers you, you can even make it invisible and it's still functional. Try it - if you don't care for it, uninstall it.

Do you know that you can make the keyboard disappear when when you hit the button on the lower right (next to the 'Go" key)?

I never quite understood what is wrong with the volume control of the Kindle. I use it all the time and don't see what all the complaint is about....

It's awkward in some uses - for instance, when watching a youtube video you have to stop the video to change the volume.

I don't know what you mean. I can change the volume anytime without stopping the video.
