If you want to make folders on the desktop then you have to use Go Launcher EX
There is also a new app called GoToApps you may want to try it, it's free it lets you make
Folders as well. But you have to keep running it.

I've been using ADW Launcher. I use Go Launcher on my phone, but I had some problems getting the folders to work properly on the Fire. I didn't like that GoToApp at all, but try them all and see what you like best.

I remember seeing a option in Go Launcher EX called app grouping, it's where you drag a app icon onto another one and they get placed in a group. I think that would be better then folders on the desktop.

Sweet, this helped me out!

I was trying to create a folder the traditional way by longpressing but even though the option was present to create a folder, the folder wouldn't be created. However if you place a shortcut on top of another, that action will create your folder and will allow you to add other apps to it.
