    Google Currents App (?)

I would love to try out the new Google Currents App on the fire. I found a copy of the apk and it failed to install.

Anybody have an idea of how we might go about trying it out?

I suspect rooting and installing Google Services would be a good start.

I haven't tried to install it on my Fire yet but it is fantastic on my Xoom . The UI is outstanding!

    Ok, did it.

    Here's how:

    After rooting (of course):

    1) Download and extract the Maps Framework
    2) Download the Google Currents apk file
    3) Place "com.google.android.maps.jar" into /system/framework/ directory and change permissions to match the other files.
    4) Place "com.google.android.maps.xml" to /system/etc/permissions/ directory and also modify permissions to match the other files.
    5) Reboot
    6) Install the .apk

    DONE!
